The company
Bunzl Safety & Lifting supplies and services lifting, rigging, and height safety equipment for customers across Australia, as part of the global Bunzl group. Their inspectors certify customer equipment in the field, and a coordination team keeps that work scheduled and reported.
They moved onto Core about a year ago — standing up the inspection module within weeks and building the platform out around their business from there.
Before Core
“Scheduling was such a time consuming process, with our co-ordination team constantly having to jump in and out of spreadsheets to ensure we were covering our customer base and our inspectors' availability.” — in their words
Reporting was just as manual. Pulling reports together and forwarding them on took hands-on intervention every time, and turnaround could stretch to as long as 72 hours — leaving customers waiting and the office tied up in work that didn't need a person doing it.
What runs on Core
Bunzl Safety & Lifting started with Core's inspection module and built outward from there:
- Scheduling runs out of Core instead of spreadsheets — coordination sees customer coverage and inspector availability in one place
- Inspectors work in the field with real-time access to their own forward calendars
- Reports are generated and sent automatically, so certificates reach customers the same day
- Customers are kept updated on planned inspections through the automation the team has put in place
- Certificates and reports come out in a format the team and their customers trust
The results
Admin time on scheduling and reporting is down at least 50%. Reports that used to take up to 72 hours now go out the same day, and customers are kept in the loop on upcoming inspections automatically rather than chased manually.
Using Core's scheduling tool, the team has also seen labour recoveries improve. And the rollout landed where it matters most — their inspectors were, in Andy's words, “totally blown away with the ease of using the system.”
“The team at Core have been so reactive to any changes or improvements we've needed to suit our business — the response from them really makes it feel like a true partnership.”
